Hannah Frank Trio has a rootsy vibe full of blues, percussive guitar and fancy fingerwork. It is built around Hannah's songwriting and the top-notch guitar of Victor Sanders. The result is a lush folk music that swings like a caged canary and opens like the wingspan of a colorful bird in a tropical jungle.
Their combined styler is full of folk, blues, country, jazz, psychadelia, beat poetry and rock/alternative with an old-fashioned modern twist. Hannah’s fluid lyrics and honey/barbed-wire voice have been compared to Kate Bush, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin while her delivery style draws from vamping story-tellers like Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.
Victor Sanders is one of the most fluid guitar players in Chicago, moving between satisfying styles of his own invention with custom pedal board. An accomplished audio engineer and a musician with a fine ear his music is of magic origin which comes through in every note and bend. He makes guitar music that fills the moment. Recently, rootsy bassist Ben Miller has been added, drawing from influences including Hot Tuna. Together they pull together the tight soundscape of the trio.
Victor & Hannah began performing in 2008, playing Chicago venues including art spaces, clubs, cafes and showcases. Previously, with fretless bassist Prism Blue, the group performed in numerous clubs, as well as Chicago's Beyond the Coyote Music Festival. The trio officially cut "The Lemon Tree", a 12-song album in 2010 and the new line-up continues performing the unique blend of lyrics and driving music that makes folk music fly.
